Standard of Excellence
People often use the phrase "standard of excellence" without understanding the words “standard” or “excellence.” It is used without thought or even the true meaning.
The definition of “standard” is a level of quality or attainment. The definition of “excellence” is a quality of being outstanding or extremely good. Our goal is to excel in our accomplishments and to be distinguishable by superiority.
Built with Standards
We continue to build our business based on a “standard of excellence” that rivals anyone else in our industry. Regardless if we are working with our investors, our employees, contractors or anyone else involved in our relationship based business, we have a set of rules that is measured based upon performance. One thing we do not accept is the status quo or just enough.
When it comes to rehabbing a home, we take the necessary steps ensuring we provide a quality product with one goal in mind, profit. We do not over build or go way above and beyond what the neighborhood calls for. The end result is a beautiful, renovated property for the new homeowners that have also provided a great return for our investors. We have an eye for details, utilize quality workmanship, watch the bottom line, and the ledger proves it.
When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.
What are your “Standards” when Flipping a Home?
Have you built a set of elevations for different homes based on location of the property? Did you know that Lowes and Home Depot perform a massive amount of local market research when choosing their inventory? They carry specific inventory based on each store location. For example, wood flooring in the Palm Springs area has little selection compared to tile. One might think putting in wood flooring in a house in the desert would be nice. However, it is a bad idea because there are such drastic environmental changes in temperature and humidity causing the wood to expand and contract. Not a good choice for wood flooring in the desert area.
Set the bar high and do everything you can to achieve it. Our company goals might be different than yours, but our “standards of excellence” should all be the same. Know your market, who is buying, and what they are looking for in a finished product prior to rehabbing the property.
Life is Full of Decisions
We are given opportunities to make choices every day, even at the most basic level. The outcome of your choices will either be productive or an utter complete waste of time. Setting measurable goals is a great way to ensure you are making progress. Do not take the easy way out and cut corners. Hold yourself to a higher standard and make productivity a habit. Doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
- Hold yourself responsible
- Do not make excuses
- Set goals and be accountable
- Measure your success
- There are no short cuts
Our philosophy is simple, work hard and smart. That old cliché of work smart, not hard does not apply to our business. We do not move mountains, we build them. We put our philosophy into each project and surround ourselves with others who have "HIGH STANDARDS" and a desire to achieve "EXCELLENCE."
